COSMOSFloWorks is not currently scheduled.  Students will be placed on a waiting list for this course (or special arrangements will be made such as onsite training.)

Class Length:  2 days

Please send an e-mail to education@funtech.com if you are interested in taking this course.

The goal of this course is to teach you how to set up, run and view results of a fluid flow and/or heat transfer analysis using SolidWorks and the Standard version of COSMOSFloWorks mechanical design automation software.

Prerequisites:
  • Mechanical design experience
  • Completion of Introduction to SolidWorks or SolidWorks Essentials
  • Basic understanding in the field of fluid flow and heat transfer
  • Experience with the Windows operating system

Topics:

  • Introduction
  • Lesson 1:  Lid Creation
  • Lesson 2:  Check Geometry
  • Lesson 3:  Creating a COSMOSFloWorks Project
  • Lesson 4:  Meshing and Thin Wall Optimization
  • Lesson 5:  Transient Heat Transfer
  • Lesson 6:  Flow Over a Cylinder
  • Lesson 7:  Cold Plate Using a Real Gas
  • Lesson 8:  Parametric Study - Piston Valve
  • Lesson 9:  Porous Media
  • Lesson 10:  Particle Trajectory
  • Lesson 11:  Supersonic Flow
  • Lesson 12:  Rotating Reference Frame
  • Lesson 13:  Cavitation in a Cone Valve
  • Lesson 14:  Relative Humidity
  • Lesson 15:  FEA Load Transfer - Display Board

Session Fee:  $1,250

It is impractical to cover every type of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) problem in COSMOSFloWorks 2008 and still have the course be a reasonable length.  Therefore, the focus of this course is on the fundamental skills and concepts central to successfully performing a CFD analysis.  You should view the training course manual as a supplement to, not a replacement for, the system documentation and on-line help.  Once you have developed a good foundation in basic skills, you can refer to the on-line help for information on less frequently used command options.
