THE CHALLENGE
Utilimaster Corporation, a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, designs and manufactures products for Federal Express and the United States Postal Service. Our original CAD systems were 2D and did not provide tools for customer presentations or manufacturing instructions. We also had difficulty creating detailed assembly drawings and exploded view drawings, and there was no associativity between files.
THE SOLUTION
We evaluated AutoCAD and Pro/ENGINEER, but SolidWorks software proved to be an excellent fit for us. It was affordable to install all the seats we needed and provided associativity between parts, assemblies, and drawings. We also liked the full suite of integrated SolidWorks Certified Gold solutions, such as SolidWorks Simulation for Finite Element Analysis (FEA). SolidWorks also provided unparalleled ease-of-use and a Windows-based architecture that enables casual users to get up to speed quickly.
