No Engineer Left Behind
In January of 2009, FISHER/UNITECH announced an aggressive retraining program aimed at assisting displaced designers and engineers in increasing their skill set and marketability using SolidWorks 3D CAD software.  This program was active through August 2009.

FISHER/UNITECH's No Engineer Left Behind Program for Displaced Workers

Our unique three-step program provided free training at one of our 10 office locations throughout the Midwest, a free 30-day evaluation copy of SolidWorks 2009 Office Professional and potential placement at a FISHER/UNITECH customer site for a 30-day pro bono internship.

No Engineer Left Behind was a $250,000 goodwill investment from FISHER/UNITECH and our valued partners to help displaced designers and engineers get back on their feet.

To qualify for the program, applicants satisfied the following criteria:

  • Must be a displaced designer or engineer within the last 12 months from a position where 2D or 3D CAD tools were used
  • Proof of unemployment must be furnished in the form of a letter from previous employer or current statement of unemployment benefits
  • Candidates must understand that the 30-day internship is not guaranteed.  FISHER/UNITECH will provide its customers that have elected to participate with a list of workers who have completed the No Engineer Left Behind training program.  Next steps will be handled by our customers, as they see fit.
  • Acceptance into No Engineer Left Behind is on a first-come, first-served basis.
We received an overwhelming response to No Engineer Left Behind.  We trained over 200 displaced engineers and designers through this program.  Stay tuned for our follow-up program launching on September 1st, 2009, No Engineer Left Behind II:  Virtual Job Fair.

Praise For No Engineer Left Behind

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Matt Herald, our Application Engineer in our Indianapolis, IN, location, just finished teaching our first No Engineer Left Behind course to a full classroom last week.

I wanted to share an email Matt received from one of the attendees. Thank you Tom for your comments, and we wish you the best of luck in your job search!

Matt,

[at No Engineer Left Behind training] I had a great time. You made the subject interesting and informative. I would highly recommend the class, the software and you. I can't remember the last time learning CAD software was as enjoyable. Thank you and FISHER/UNITECH for providing this for those of us that have been laid off. It shows a real commitment to the community.

Thanks Again,
Tom Standish

I got another great email from one of our No Engineer Left Behind participants in our Indianapolis, IN location.

Lisa:

Thank-you for the note. I cannot thank FISHER/UNITECH enough for the free training, providing an opportunity to many fellow unemployed designers & engineers. The "No Engineer Left Behind Program" is a great example of grass-roots economic stimulus. You have my vote for company of the year.

Matt Herald was a great instructor who tirelessly answered our questions for 3 days.

Regards,
Lester Lakey
